Where are those Electroplates?

24. 2. 2015

A quick update on what’s going on from Freejam.

Electroplates – These are done, tested, and ready to launch. Our aim is to launch Tuesday morning.

Why the delay? – The reason for the delayed launch is that we need to first upgrade our website servers, which means moving our website over to an uber server at Amazon and away from the current provider. This is all done and we’re just waiting for a low traffic point to switch it all over (early Monday morning UK time).

Why website before Electroplates? – The recent increased traffic from Steam is pushing the website to the max during peak times. Any more traffic and new users won’t be able to register at all. Steam actually featured Robocraft on the main store page and that extra traffic broke the website completely and we had to ask then to unfeature us whilst we upgrade the web servers. When we launch major updates – like the EP will be – we get a lot of extra traffic to the website. This means if we launch the EP before upgrading the website, the website will break. That’s why we have to do it first.

Alignment Rectifier (aka “The Flipper”) – This cube is also complete, but will release after the EP launch. We are staggering the launches to give us a regular steady feed of new features to launch to you every week.

Mars Map #3 – This is also complete, and will likely launch at the same time as the Alignment Rectifier.

Robo-Leagues – We’re most of the way there now with the leagues, but we figuring out how to reward users who get into the Pro and Elite leagues. We want to provide a way where these users can show their league achievements somehow. The Roboleague will launch the week after the AR and new map.

Robot Shop – This is also complete, accept we haven’t designed any awesome Robots for it yet. We’ve been focusing our time on the Electroplate launch first.

Others stuff:

- We’ve been working hard on a new lobby system. This will allow us to have an infinite amount of users in a single lobby, meaning that all T10′s for example will be in the same lobby. This will reduce queue times and improve match-making a lot
- We’re working hard in the background to try to improve Robocloud issues, such as issues logging in, ‘invalid password’ issues, lobby issues, and Friend and Platoon issues. This has been complex as it’s required some back and forth development between Freejam and Yahoo Games Network (Robocloud provider)
- We’ve made a fair few bug fixes for this next release as well, we’re trying to put more time into bug fixing and polish as we go now

Community:

Sorry we haven’t been on the forums as much recently. Freejam have been fire-fighting a ton of issues which has led to us getting our heads down in development to get them sorted. We’ve got some extra Jammers coming on board to help us interact with the community more from next week as we don’t want to miss any of the amazing feedback that you all give us and we want to be able to respond to you more often, especially when you’re having technical issues and reporting players etc.
